Stand where one of the most important stages in Black entertainment history once welcomed legends like Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown, and Aretha Franklin. The original theater is gone, but the site still carries the weight of Pennsylvania Avenue's era as one of America's great Black entertainment districts — a short, meaningful stop that grounds the rest of the trail.

Founded in 1905, Arch Social Club is one of the nation's oldest continuously operating African American social clubs — and its story runs straight through Baltimore's jazz scene, civic leadership, and the golden era of Pennsylvania Avenue. Even just standing outside, you're looking at more than a century of Black community life gathered in one building.
